Worcester Warriors have hired Hugh Watkins to give them advice on the laws of rugby and help them in training so that they can be as disciplined as possible.  Discipline is an area that many teams can struggle with - a high penalty count can change a game entirely, so it is interesting to see that Worcester have hired an international referee to give them as much help and advice as possible for their Guinness Premiership campaign.

Hugh Watkins is an international referee, who has ref’ed 5 test matches, as well as being involved in countless Heineken cup and world cup qualifiers as a linesman, as well as parts of the World Series Seven.  He has been the ref in U19 and U21 world cup finals as well.  So really a very experienced guy when all is said and done.

I think this something that is going to happen more and more, with specialists refs being brought in to give a team that extra 1 or 2 percent that can help them win the games they might otherwise just lose.  Heck, players might start learning more of the rules of the game - you never know!
