Scott MacLeod - a Bit of an Idiot Really

Scotland

Scott MacLeod managed to not be banned from playing Rugby for taking a controlled substance and was just given a reprimand. This is how it went:

Scott has Asthma.

He has a inhaler for this.

He usually uses Terbutaline.

Terbutaline is on the controlled substance list.

Therefore Scott has to get what is called a theraputic use exception (TUE) so he can use it.

When his current medical form was issued, he was using an alternative called Salbutamol.

He swapped back from Salbutamol to Terbutaline.

His current medical records didn’t provide a TUE for Terbutaline.

Then he tested positive for it (obviously).

This was seen as bad.

Luckily the independent judicial committee saw that he was just a bit of a wally who didn’t read the small print and as such forgave him and he can now get back to playing rugby.
