Rabeni Banned Again

We mentioned in a previous post how Seru Rabeni, the Fijian and Leicester center was up before an RFU disciplinary board, having been caught playing in sevens tournaments, while panned from rugby for a previous offence of “Illegal contact with the eye area” of the Saracens hooker, Andy Kyriacou.

In the hearing, Rabeni admitted to playing in 3 sevens tournaments while being banned from playing any form of rugby. The board took the fact that he had flaunted the ban by playing rugby very seriously, and announced that they were going to give Rabeni a 9 week ban after his 14 week ban. This ban will begin on the 15th of August, and end on the 17th of October. Leicester must be very annoyed with Rabeni, as it means he will now miss the first 7 matches of Leicester’s season, including 5 Guiness Premiership matches.
