O’Driscoll May Lose Captaincy
It has been hinted by the Irish coach, Declan Kidney, that he may change who is captain of the Irish rugby team, putting an end to Brian O’Driscolls 5 year reign as the leader of Ireland. During this time he was also the captain of the the ill fated Lions tour to New Zealand, where he was injured in the first few minutes of the first game.
It has also been said that by Kidney that he wants to get O’Driscoll back to his very best, and if that means removing him of his captaincy, so he can concentrate solely on being the best center he can be, then so be it.
Either Paul O’Connell or Ronan O’Gara are most likely to be chosen as replacement captain, depending on what happens over the next few months. I would love to see O’Driscoll as he was at his best, rather than how he plays now - a good captain, but no where near as good a player as he used to be.
