McGeechan Is Lions coach for the 4th time

Ian McGeechan, the Wasps coach has been selected head coach of the 2009 Lions tour of South Africa. He is the most successful Lions coach of all times, having won 2 tours as head coach (1989 and 97) , lost one as head coach (1993), and won every game as coach of the midweek team in the 2005 lions tour.

He has also played in two Lions tours - 1974 and 1977.

This tour is apparently going to be a throw back to the Lions tour of old, with people sharing hotel rooms, one squad and one set of coaches. This is a change from the 2005 lions tour, which was widely slated for having a massive touring party, two sets of coaches, two squads and so much more. thee were spin doctors and all sorts on tour, and yet they lost miserably.

Lets hope we can recreate the glory days of old in 2009!
