Johnson now England manager

England

Martin Johnson is now England Manager, at the expense of Brian Ashton. Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen, however people keep on forgetting that England were doing pretty well with Ashton - final of the world cup and best 6 nations result for several years as well. There were definite improvements, and it is a bit sad to see him just tossed away. Or at least relegated back to head coach at the national academy.

Though there are rumours that they are trying to poach Jim Mallinder from Northampton Saints as England’s backs coach. I am pretty sure that Keith Barwell, the Saints owner, will have something to say about that, and will be happy to speak with his wallet.

Another rumour was that Mike Catt could be England’s backs coach instead.

I am sure that once the dust settles we will find out the exact plan for England rugby for the next few years. Should be interesting!
