Italy to Bid for World Cup

Italy are going to bid to host either the 2015 or the 2019 Rugby World Cup the Italian Rugby Federation have announced today.

England and Wales are looking to make a joint bid for the 2015 World Cup, and Japan are going bid as well.

The IRB (International Ruby Board) will announce their decision on who will host the two tournaments in July 2009. There have been some controversies over the awarding of the world cup recently - Japan were expected to host the World Cup in 2011, but after a secret vote, it was give to New Zealand instead. It is a very political thing, trying to get everyone to agree to let you host the World Cup, with countries having to haggle withe other countries, allowing them to host some of the games etc. Does anyone remember the last world cup? Where a tournament hosted by France had games played in Wales and Scotland? Bit odd that.
