Final day of Guinness Premiership

Guinness Premiership

So Saturday was the final day of the Guinness Premiership, and what a lot of excitement it was too. So now we move off into the play off stage. However, here is a quick run down of the weekend matches:

Gloucester 8-6 Bath

A close game, with Gloucester just coming out on top. There were diallowed tries, last minute tackles, all sorts of excitement. However Gloucester finish top of the table, while Bath end up 3rd.

Leeds 28-45 Wasps

Leeds were already relegated before this game, and tobe hnest it is easy enough to see why they didn’t do too well this year. Leeds started off the better team, but Wasps soon stepped up a gear at the beginning of the econd half. However they then slacked off again near the end of the second half and let Leeds make the scoreline a bit more respectable. Wasps finish 2nd, Leeds finish bottom.

Leicester 31-28 Harlequins

Leicester just beat Harlequins and somehow managed to scrape 4th place in the league. I don’t like Leicester that much.

Sale 7-17 London Irish

Sale lost to London Irish and also lost a play off place. Irish were stronger, and Sale seemed to only partially turn up. Sale finished 5th and Irish 7th.

Saracens 25-20 Bristol

Saracens beat Bristol with a last minute try. However, neither team played that well. Saracens finsh 8th, Bristol 9th.

Worcester 51-10 Newcastle

Newcastle have got to be favourites for relegation next year. With all their best players abandoning ship, and the new players all being crap, losing to Worcester by this sort of scoreline shows that there is a bigger issue than just a few players leaving. Worcester finish 10th and Newcastle 11th.

So now onto the playoffs on the 18th of May! Gloucester play Leicester and Wasps play Bath in the semi finals.
