England Players Punished after New Zealand incident
So everyone knows that there as something that went on during England’s tour of New Zealand (there wasn’t much rugby, that’s for sure), and that people did something that they weren’t meant to do. However, nothing really ever became clear, as the alleged victim didn’t make a formal compliant (as far as I a m aware?) and things died down a bit as the investigation dragged on. The police didn’t get involved as there was no official complaint, so punishments were passed out by Judge Jeff Blackett, who is the RFU disciplinary officer. Anyways, I only recently found out the actual punishments for those who were caught up in what happened. They were:
Mike Brown guilty of misconduct. Reprimanded and fined £1,000
Topsy Ojo guilty of misconduct. Reprimanded and fined £500
David Strettle not guilty of misconduct, but warned
Danny Care not guilty of any misconduct
These sort of punishments suggest that no one really knows what fully happened, and that the punishments were handed out to make an example of them. It also seems that Danny Care and David Strettle did not have anything to do with the incident, but caught up in it.
