England players in revolt at proposed pay review
England players are up in arms over a proposed change to their contracts, which would see them changed from a flat rate of pay (worth about £100,000 a year) to a performance based one, worth about £65,000 plus win bonuses. England payers are currently paid £9000 per match, and see the new rules as unfair. I personally think that performance based pay isn’t going to spur the players onto any greater efforts for their country, as they are already giving their all, unlike some some players in some sports.
Hopefully we won’t see another strike, but it would be quite ironic, as the last strike was led by Martin Johnson, the then England captain. Who as we all know is now on the other side of the fence and in charge of England.
