Ben Foden Joins Northampton Saints

Ben Foden, the Sale Sharks and England 7s scrum half, has been signed by Northampton Saints, who were relegated from the premiership last year, but seem to be heading straight back up. While currently playing as fullback for sale, he is primarilya scrum half. Since Sale just signed Dwayne Peel, the Welsh scrum half, and already have Richard Wigglesworth, the current England scrum half, this means that he would be getting very little game time at scrum half and as such would be seen as starting full back and possible scrum half cover.

While being a great fullback - in the last game he played, he scored a try and got Man of the Match, Ben obviously felt that to get to where he wants to be he needs to move clubs. And what better club to move to? It has his old England U21 coach Jim Mallinder there, some of his old Sale teammates such as Chris Mayor, and even Sale’s fitness coach!

Ben should learn lots from the experienced Saints squad, especially from Sharky (Mark Robinson) and Los (Carlos Spencer), and hopefully will have a great next season!
