Anitelia Tuilagi Moves To Sale
Sale Sharks have signed the Samoan international Anitelia Tuilagi on a 4 year deal. Tuilagi played for Leeds Carnegie last year, and played for Leicester before that. He is quite a versatile player, and can play at either center or wing. He left Leeds in June, when his contract, which still had a year on it, was cancelled, due to the fact that Leeds had been relegated.
It has to be said though, that even though Leeds were relegated it isn’t Tuilagi’s fault, as he only managed 7 appearances for them. He was in the Samoan squad for the last world cup as well, and so far has scored 2 tries internationally.
As the Sale director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre said:
“Andy is a great acquisition for the club. He’s young, strong and has played at international level.”
What more do you really need in a 22 year old back? Sure he isn’t the finished article, but if he doesn’t become it at Sale, there are very few places that could teach him all he needs to know to become world-class.
