Andy Farrell Injured Again

Andy Farrell, who has been plagued with injury and fitness problems since he left rugby league to play rugby union, is injured again. This time it isn’t as serious as some of him problems, but he has now fractured and dislocated his thumb in a game against Western Force.

The injury occurred only minutes after arriving on the pitch as a second half substitute when he tackled one of the western Force players. As Farrell himself said:

I had only been on a few minutes when I went in for a cover tackle and took the impact on my thumb. As soon as it happened, I knew I was in a bit of trouble.

• Calf
• Thumb

Quite a few things there! He managed to miss the whole of his first season of Rugby Union for Saracens by being inured, and hasn’t had a decent run of games since. Saracens medics reckon Andy Farrell is going to miss the games against Harlequins, Sale, Newcastle, Northampton and Bristol. So quite a few then!
