6 Nations Round Up - Week 1
What better way to start this off than with the first weekend of the six nations.
England 19 - 26 Wales
England fell to pieces like a bunch of footballers. Wales were almost as shocking, but luckily the fact that the entire team plays together week in week out in the guise of the Ospreys meant that they had enough of a team spirit to pull together. So basically the Ospreys beat an inexperienced England. And who said Wesh club rugby was weak?
It has to be said though, that England are going to get better, you could see what they wanted to do, they just wern’t always able to do it. This will come with time, and playing together.
Ireland 16 - 11 Italy
Italy played with more heart than skill, but they are coming on leaps and bounds from the first time they ever played in this competition. Ireland were average, and they just about deserved the win maybe. O’ Driscoll doesn’t excite anymore. He is still as solid as ever, but he doesn’t seem to have that edge that made him so dangerous in years gone by. The way Italy are playing makes me excited for England V Italy - it should be a good game for sure.
Scotland 6 - 27 France
France looked amazing in patches. The changing of so many players and the introduction of so many new(ish) caps meant that they didn’t play with the complacency that has dogged them for so long, that and a discipline level that always seem to be getting better, or at least less obvious infractions anyway. Scotland, as per usual these days, were rubbish. I don’t like Scotland being rubbish, but they have been pretty rubbish ever since I can remember. I remember a time when Gregor Townsend was on the pitch and not part of the studio team - they still weren’t any good then.
